Break and Steal an Egg Wiki

Break and Steal an Egg Index Rewards

The Index tracks every animal you have obtained, and the first copy of each one pays a discovery reward in Speed and cash. That is why collection is progression.

What the index is

The Index is the collection tracker. The game's own description tells players to 'collect them all in the Index', and the first time you obtain a species it is registered there.

Registering a species also pays a discovery reward: a Speed bonus plus a cash bonus. Those rewards are the main reason late-game players target new species rather than farming the same high-income egg.

Why discovery rewards matter more than income late

Income compounds slowly; discovery Speed jumps. A single high-rarity pull can hand over a Speed bonus in the billions, which is worth more than hours of treadmill time at that stage.

This is the mechanism that makes the huge gate jumps survivable: 25 billion for Galaxy and 100 billion for Planet X are not treadmill numbers, they are collection numbers.

How to complete zones without wasting runs

Target the species you are missing rather than the highest income. If a zone has three egg types and you still need animals from one of them, farm that egg first.

Bank the new species before you carry duplicates. A duplicate only helps through merging, while a new species registers and pays immediately.

What is not published

The Index's own milestone rewards, if any, are not documented in the sources checked. The site does not invent a reward table for them.

Per-egg hatch odds are also unpublished, so no page here quotes a drop rate.

How to tell what is actually blocking you

The steps above describe the fix. This part is about knowing whether the fix is the one you need, and how to tell a real improvement from a lucky run.

Diagnose before you change anything

If progress feels stuck, check whether you are missing species rather than income. The Index records the first copy of every species, so its gaps are literally the work still left, and each gap sits behind a specific zone and egg. Compare what you are farming with what the Index still shows missing. When those two lists do not match, you are farming for income while the bottleneck is collection, and the fix is a different route rather than more of the same one.

Check that the change actually landed

After a run, check that the new species actually registered. A species you broke an egg for but never took through the hatch has not registered, and it will not count until it does. The confirmation is the entry itself plus its discovery reward, which arrives once per species. If the entry is already there and nothing paid out, the species was registered before that run, so the run added nothing to the collection even though it added a pet to the pen.

Common misreads

The first misread is assuming discovery rewards repeat. They are tied to the first copy of a species, so re-farming something you already own adds nothing to the collection. The second is valuing the highest-income pet over a missing species late on, when one new entry can move Speed further than pen income does in the same time. The third is expecting a published reward table for collection milestones — none is documented, and this site does not print one it cannot verify.

Questions this guide gets asked

Do discovery rewards repeat?

They are described as first-time rewards, so treat them as one payout per species per account.

How many pets are in the index?

The pet database lists every confirmed species by zone; the exact total moves with updates, so the live count is on the pets page.

Does a Robux pet count?

Fallen Angel pets are real species, so they should register — but that has not been confirmed in game, so it is labelled unverified.
